Drugs Gang Busted in Major £350k Seizure

Moses Irungu, 40, has been slammed with four and a half years behind bars. His partner-in-crime, Nontuthuzelo Halana, 44, got eight months in jail. The duo was caught after a slick intelligence-led police operation tore through their drug network.

Massive Haul Found in Aberdeen and Edinburgh Raids

The bust kicked off in May 2020. Police raided properties on Pilton Drive North and Steads Place, uncovering a staggering 22kg of amphetamine, 2kg of heroin, and £10,000 in cash. Irungu was arrested right after.

In June 2020, another raid at a property on Ferry Gait Crescent, Edinburgh, turned up mixing agents, crack cocaine, and over £4,000 cash. Halana was tracked down and arrested at this address, linking her to both sets of seizures.

Law Enforcement Sends a Ruthless Warning

“This intelligence led operation resulted in over £350,000 worth of controlled drugs being seized,” said Detective Inspector Gary Reid of the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit. “We want anyone involved in Scotland’s drug supply chain to know this: if you profit from misery, you’ll be targeted. Irungu and Halana were running a serious drug operation, but no one is untouchable.” “The public’s help remains crucial. If you know anything about drug activity, contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.”

Justice Served

Irungu and Halana pled guilty at the High Court back in March 2021. Their sentencing today marks a major win in Scotland’s fight against drug crime, hitting hard at those who flood streets with deadly substances.
