Shoplifter Nabbed: New Forest Man Jailed for Stealing £2,500 in Southampton

A 35-year-old man from the New Forest has been locked up for 18 weeks after a spree of shoplifting at Southampton’s West Quay Shopping Centre.

Thomas Nathan Amos’ Crime Spree at John Lewis

Thomas Nathan Amos, with no fixed address, was caught stealing over £2,500 worth of goods from John Lewis across three separate occasions between August 4 and August 9, 2021.

He was also found guilty of assault during this time.

Judge Slams Amos with Jail Time and Store Ban

Southampton Magistrates Court sentenced Amos to eight weeks behind bars on August 17. In addition, he received a ban from all John Lewis stores in England and Wales until August 16, 2022.

Suspended Sentence Activated – Total Jail Time 18 Weeks

The judge revived a previous suspended sentence, tacking on 10 more weeks to Amos’ time, meaning he faces a total of 18 weeks locked up.
