Tragic Discovery: Body of Teen Found in Barking Waterway

The lifeless body of 15-year-old Azoulas Zygelis was discovered on Wednesday, 3 November, at around 12:20pm in a waterway near Stebbing Way, close to Wivenhoe Road, Barking. Azoulas had been reported missing two days earlier, on Monday, 1 November.

Last Seen Leaving Newlands Park

Azoulas was last spotted in Felton Road, Barking, around 5pm. He then headed to Newlands Park to meet friends briefly before leaving the park via the Roxwell Road exit at about 6pm. After this, he vanished without a trace.

Police Appeal for Dashcam and Doorbell Footage

Detective Constable Lisa Jones of the East Area Command Unit said: “I urge anyone living along the route between Felton Road and Newlands Park to check any doorbell footage from that afternoon and evening. Drivers passing through the area should also review their dashcam videos.”

“The distance from Newlands Park to where Azoulas’s body was found is short, so anyone around the park should search their footage from Monday evening through to Wednesday. Even the smallest detail might help crack this case.”

Ongoing Investigation with Family Support

A post-mortem at Queens Hospital, Romford, on 4 November was inconclusive. More tests are underway. Meanwhile, Azoulas’s family are receiving support from specialist officers.

Police are desperate for information. Anyone who can help should call 101 or reach out via Twitter @MetCC, quoting CAD4262/03NOV.
