Sheffield Court Slams Duo for Growing Class B Drug
Mirjan Petku, 25, and Rexhep Petku, 22, both with no fixed address, faced Sheffield Crown Court after being caught growing cannabis. The brothers were found guilty of manufacturing a Class B controlled substance.
Raid Uncovers Big Cannabis Operation
On March 23, officers raided a property on Woodhouse Green, Rotherham, as part of a wider blitz on cannabis farms. They found two rooms packed with over 60 mature cannabis plants and a fresh batch of seedlings ready to grow.
The rooms were kitted out with professional equipment—transformers, fans, lighting—all designed to fuel the illegal grow. This wasn’t some small-time operation.
Police Warn of Crime Links and Call for Community Help
“We are continuing to gather intelligence and execute warrants at a rapid pace as the crackdown on cannabis cultivation and associated crimes continues in Rotherham,” said Temporary Sergeant Matt Smith.
“Cannabis cultivation is tied to modern slavery, exploitation of vulnerable people, and funds organised crime in our communities. We’re stronger when working with the public and urge anyone with info to come forward.”

Sentences Handed Down
- Mirjan Petku got two years and ten months behind bars and must pay £190 restitution upon release.
- Rexhep Petku was jailed for two years and ordered to pay £156 in restitution.
