Racial Abuse and Assault Shocks The Leas
A man and woman stepped in after witnessing three men hurl racial abuse at passersby along The Leas on Monday, 20 June 2022, around 5.30pm. When the man confronted the offenders, he was attacked, and shockingly, his dog was kicked.
Family Targeted on Nearby Beach
At roughly the same time, a family relaxing on the beach at 1 Esplanade near Earls Avenue became victims of racial abuse. Stones were flung at them, and one family member was viciously kicked and punched, suffering injuries severe enough to need hospital treatment.
Suspect Arrested; Police Seek Witnesses
The very next day, police arrested a 21-year-old man from Deal on suspicion of assault and a public order offence. Detectives believe both attacks are linked and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
