Fuel Theft Foiled by Kent Police on A2 Near Canterbury
Kent Police’s Tactical Operations Unit sprang into action at 1.45am on Friday 21 October 2022, spotting a suspicious vehicle leaving a layby on the A2 near Canterbury.
Stolen Fuel and Equipment Seized
Officers tailed the vehicle and pulled it over nearby. Inside, they found a large stash of fuel, believed to be stolen, along with hosepipes and canisters.
Two Men Arrested for Theft
Two men, aged 29 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody for questioning.
Investigation Underway Into Diesel Theft
Just 20 minutes later, at 2.05am, police were alerted to a diesel theft from a lorry parked in a layby on the A2 near Barham earlier that night.
Officers are now investigating if the recovered fuel matches the stolen diesel reported.
