Tragic Christmas Shooting Rocks Wallasey Village
Elle Edwards was out celebrating Christmas with her sister and friends when she was shot in the head at the Lighthouse Inn, Wallasey Village, Merseyside, just before midnight. She later died in hospital, leaving the community devastated.
Innocent Victim in Shocking Pub Shooting
Police believe Elle was not the intended target. The gunman fired shots at the pub’s front door, injuring four others, including one critically ill. A 28-year-old man remains in critical condition while three others suffered less severe wounds. The assailant remains on the run.
Family and Friends Mourn as Police Hunt Gunman
Elle’s beauty salon colleagues at Nova Studio expressed their heartbreak on Instagram:
“Heaven gained the most beautiful angel. We are all heartbroken and are thinking of your entire family right now, Elle. Thank you for all the laughs and happiness you brought into our lives, angel. Rest in paradise. Love from the Nova team.”
On Boxing Day, family and friends, led by Elle’s father Tim Edwards, laid flowers at the shooting scene. Police described the family as “devastated” and “inconsolable.”
Police Appeal for Information on Suspect and Vehicle
Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs revealed officers are hunting a male suspect linked to a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly a Mercedes A-Class, seen speeding away minutes after the shooting.
“We urge anyone with information about the gunman or the vehicle to come forward,” said DS Coombs.
Local MP Condemns “Senseless” Violence
Wallasey MP Angela Eagle slammed the shooting as “heartbreaking” and “senseless,” praising the community’s spirit.
“This is a very settled, good community. The incident is not linked to any local issues, and I hope this reassures frightened locals caught up in this horrific event.”
She urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact Merseyside Police, who are experienced in handling such tragic violence.
