Met Office Issues Yellow Warning for Snow and Ice

Brace yourselves! The Met Office has slapped a yellow weather warning on parts of the UK as temperatures plunge and snow threatens to hit. The warning kicks in tonight at 9pm (March 6) and lasts until 10am tomorrow (March 7).

Snow Set to Slam South East London

Get ready for a white surprise in South East London, where snow is expected to fall tomorrow and again on Wednesday (March 8). The Met Office’s hour-by-hour forecast predicts snow between 11am and 3pm on Tuesday, with a 60% chance between 11am-1pm and a 50% chance between 2pm-3pm.

Wednesday looks messy too, with snow, sleet, and rain forecast, though details are yet to be pinned down.

Travel Chaos Looms: Expect Delays on Roads and Rails

When the yellow warning is active, expect longer journey times by road, bus, and train. Icy patches and minor snow accumulations will disrupt travel from tonight through Wednesday, so plan accordingly.

The Week Ahead: Sharp Chill Followed by Milder Weather

  • Monday: Cloudy skies with light rain this morning, possible showers and bright spells in the afternoon. Temperatures peak at 8°C, but a biting breeze will make it feel much colder. Rain turning wintry overnight with icy patches forming. Minimum drops to 0°C.
  • Tuesday: Morning rain and snow clearing to the south, giving way to sunny spells up north. Maximum temperature only 5°C.
  • Wednesday to Friday: A very cold start on Wednesday, turning more overcast with rain, sleet, and snow possible. Thursday and Friday should warm up a bit but expect rain and strong winds.

Thankfully, conditions are expected to ease towards the end of the week, but watch this space for any weather updates.
