Dagenham Bus Driver Hurt in Hit-and-Run Horror
A local bus driver was rushed to hospital after a serious hit-and-run crash in Dagenham late Tuesday night.
Motorcyclist Struck on Heathway
The smash happened around 11pm on 26 August, near the Ripple Road bus depot on Heathway. Witnesses say the victim, believed to be an Arriva bus driver riding home on his motorcycle, was slammed into by a speeding car.
Emergency services raced to the scene. The London Ambulance Service took the injured man to hospital under police escort. His current condition remains unknown.
Fleeing Driver Abandons Car Nearby
The driver behind the crash didn’t stop. Police later found the suspect’s car abandoned about 800 yards from the scene, tucked away in a side street.
Eyewitnesses report seeing a man being bundled into the back of a police van near the crash site shortly afterwards.
Police Probe Continues Overnight
A heavy police presence stayed on at the scene well into the early hours as officers launched a full investigation. It’s unclear if anyone has been formally arrested.
“I was told by a bus driver that the motorcyclist was coming back from work. He believes it was one of their colleagues from the Ripple Road depot. The ambulance left with a police escort — it looked very serious,” said one shocked witness.
Police Appeal for Help
The Met Police have yet to release an official statement. Anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage is urged to call 101.
