A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.30pm to a traffic collision on Loxham Road, E4. We treated a child at the scene before taking him to a major trauma centre.”

A Met Police spokesperson added: “Officers attended alongside the ambulance service after a car collided with a 12-year-old boy. The child remains in hospital with serious injuries.”

Waltham Forest Council warned: “Due to a traffic incident, Chingford Road was closed between Walthamstow Avenue and Loxham Road. Please avoid the area where possible.”
