A dramatic emergency unfolded on Surrey Street today when a man fell from the pedestrian walkway towering over the bustling street market. It happened right in the middle of a busy Friday lunchtime, causing chaos and panic.

Surrey Street Sealed Off Amid Rescue Efforts

Police quickly shut down Surrey Street, using their vehicles to block the road as paramedics and first responders rushed to the scene. The walkway, linking Croydon High Street to Surrey Street, stands about two storeys high — roughly 25 to 30 feet off the ground.

Urgent Air Ambulance Response

The London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 12:50pm following reports of the fall. They dispatched multiple units, including an advanced paramedic team and London’s iconic Air Ambulance helicopter.

“We treated a man for a head injury and took him to hospital as a priority,” a spokesperson said.

First responders flooded nearby Church Street, intensifying the emergency operation amid the lunchtime rush.
