Massive internet blackout hits Zoom, LinkedIn, Spotify and more

A huge chunk of the web just wiped out millions of users from popular sites and apps. Platforms running on Cloudflare’s network – including Zoom, Canva, LinkedIn, and even Down Detector – are either down or glitching right now.

Cloudflare Crash Takes Down Web Giants

Earlier today, users reported widespread outages on platforms relying on Cloudflare, the tech giant that powers and protects nearly 20% of all websites worldwide. Some of the major victims include:

  • Discord and Notion
  • Spotify and Canva
  • GitHub and Stack Overflow
  • Shopping heavyweights Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, and H&M
  • News outlets like Politico, Axios, and the BBC
  • Even Down Detector, the outage tracker itself, went dark

Cloudflare Silent On Latest Crash

Cloudflare’s CEO Matthew Prince had apologised after a similar meltdown last November caused by a glitch in their anti-DDoS system – a tech defence against traffic floods meant to knock sites offline. Prince stressed then it wasn’t a cyberattack, but a system failure.

Today, the cause is still hush-hush. If your favourite apps are playing up, you’re not alone. Millions of users are locked out as Cloudflare scrambles to get back online.
