From tomorrow, two Coastguard search and rescue helicopters will be flying out of Manston Airport, marking a major comeback for the site in the SAR scene.

Since 2015, HM Coastguard’s operator Bristow had been based at Lydd Airport. But a fallout over costs forced the crews to temporarily shift to Hampshire. Now the service confirms a permanent move to Manston.

Top-Notch Facilities and Location

The Bristow Group operates AW139 helicopters for HM Coastguard and will use Manston for crew swaps, refuelling, and all rescue operations. A spokesperson said:

“We appreciate the airport’s cooperation and support in enabling these arrangements.
