Brutal Metal Bar Attack Shakes Cinema Car Park

Arafat Akhtar, 38, went on the rampage with a metal bar in a cinema car park after taking offence at a relationship involving someone he knew. The savage assault happened at around 8.45pm on 9th August last year.

Brother Joins in Shocking Beating

Arafat’s younger brother, 23-year-old Sufyaan Akhtar, also jumped in, landing punches on the victim. The poor victim suffered a smashed kneecap, a head wound needing stitches, and a badly bruised finger in the violent attack.

Fast Justice Hits the Akhtar Brothers

  • Both brothers were arrested just four days later, on 13th August.
  • Arafat admitted Section 20 assault and was slammed with 21 months behind bars at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.
  • Sufyaan pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and got a 12-month suspended sentence plus 120 hours of unpaid community service.
  • Both slapped with five-year restraining orders banning any contact with the victim.

This brutal attack sends a stark warning: Blackburn won’t tolerate violence driven by personal grudges.
