Police Car Crashes on Emergency Call Near Newhaven McDonald’s

In the early hours of March 1, a Sussex police car responding to an emergency smashed into a roundabout on Drove Road, Newhaven—right by the McDonald’s drive-thru. The solo crash forced one lane to shut while crews recovered the vehicle.

Solo Smash, No Other Vehicles Involved

The collision happened around 1am. Thankfully, no other cars or pedestrians were caught up in the smash. The police vehicle was the only one involved as officers raced to an urgent call.

Sussex Police Confirm Details

“A single police vehicle was involved in a collision on the A259 in Drove Road, Newhaven, at about 1am,” a Sussex Police spokesperson said. “The officers were responding to an emergency at the time of the collision. No other vehicles or road users were affected.”

Recovery efforts quickly got underway, reopening the lane and clearing the scene.
