Child killer Ian Huntley remains in a critical condition in hospital, three days after a savage attack in HMP Frankland, Durham.

Triple Killer Smashes Huntley with Three-Foot Metal Bar

Durham police confirmed Huntley, 52, was bludgeoned up to 15 times with a three-foot metal pole by fellow inmate and triple murderer Anthony Russell during a prison work detail. The attack happened on Thursday morning as Huntley bent down to tie a string on a recycling crate.

A police spokesperson said Sunday: “The 52-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious condition, there have been no changes overnight.”

Russell allegedly shouted, “I’ve done it, I’ve done it” after the brutal assault. Russell is serving a whole-life tariff for murdering three people, including a pregnant woman, in Coventry and Leamington Spa.

Huntley on Life Support with Severe Injuries

Huntley was rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma, reliant on a ventilator. Doctors were shocked that he survived the horrific attack. He suffered brain damage, skull fractures, and a broken jaw.

A prison source revealed: “Huntley was working in waste management on the segregated wing for vulnerable prisoners when the attacker used a metal bar from the recycling crates to hit him three times on the head.”

Family Speak Out: Daughter ‘Glad’ He Was Attacked

Huntley’s 27-year-old daughter, Samantha Bryan, told The Sun she was “glad” her father was violently beaten for the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.” She said, “I think he got what he deserves. I hope he burns in hell. I’d like to shake the hand of the man who did it.”

Bryan only discovered Huntley was her father at 14 during a school project. She had written to him in prison seeking answers, but he refused to meet.

Meanwhile, Huntley’s 71-year-old mother admits she finds her son unrecognisable and “part of me hopes he dies.”

Repeat Target of Prison Violence

This attack is just the latest in a long line of assaults Huntley has faced behind bars. In 2010, robber Damien Fowkes slashed him across the neck with a homemade knife, causing a severe gash needing 21 stitches. Huntley was also scalded with boiling water in 2005 and had his throat cut in 2010.

Huntley was convicted in 2003 for the brutal murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, whom he killed near Soham, Cambridgeshire. He received a minimum 40-year life sentence.

The infamous child murderer continues to attract violent reprisals from inmates, with prison authorities struggling to keep him safe.
