Ian Huntley Left Fighting for Life After Brutal Jail Beating with Metal Pole
Triple Killer Smashed Up to 15 Times in Savage Prison Attack
Ian Huntley, the notorious murderer of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, is seriously injured after a vicious assault inside prison. The attacker, fellow triple killer Anthony Russell, reportedly thrashed Huntley up to 15 times with a three-foot metal pole.
A prison insider said, “Huntley was working in waste management on the segregated Wing A when another inmate grabbed a metal bar and smashed him three times in the head. The injuries were severe – hitting him right on the skull.”
Durham Constabulary confirmed a man in his mid-40s was detained in connection with the attack but has not been formally arrested yet.
Meet Anthony Russell: The Man Who Laid Into Huntley
Anthony Russell, 39, is serving a whole-life sentence for the brutal murders of Julie Williams, her son David, and Nicole McGregor – a pregnant 31-year-old he also raped. These horrific crimes happened around Coventry and Leamington Spa.
This latest savage assault adds to the long list of violent attacks aimed at Huntley since he was locked up.
Huntley’s Violent Prison Brawls and Family Speak Out
Huntley has been targeted time and again behind bars. In 2010, he was slashed across the neck with a homemade blade by prisoner Damien Fowkes, who later chillingly asked, “Is he dead? I hope so.” The attack left a seven-inch wound needing 21 stitches.
His daughter, Samantha Bryan, 27, showed no sympathy for her infamous father. Talking to The Sun, she said, “I think he got what he deserves. I hope he burns in hell. I’d like to shake the hand of the man who did it.”
Samantha only found out Huntley was her dad in her teens via a school crime project. Attempts to meet him in prison were repeatedly refused.
Meanwhile, Huntley’s 71-year-old mother, Lynda Richards, told The Sun he looked “unrecognisable” after the attack and admitted, “Part of me hopes he dies. Few will mourn his passing.”
Huntley’s Murder Case and Prison Hell
Ian Huntley was locked up for life with a 40-year minimum sentence after the 2002 murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. He lured them into his home before killing them, sparking a six-week Old Bailey trial that shook the nation.
Huntley denied the murders, claiming Holly drowned by accident and Jessica suffocated trying to stop her screaming. But a jury convicted him in 2003.
Since then, Huntley’s life in prison has been a nightmare. He was scalded with boiling water in 2005 and slashed at HMP Frankland in 2010. Last year, shocking photos emerged of him mockingly wearing a Manchester United-style No 10 shirt – a cruel nod to the girls he killed.
