Three men held in Iran spying probe have had their detention extended, police reveal. The trio were first nabbed on Friday, 6 March, in a sharp Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) swoop targeting suspected foreign intelligence activity.
Detention Extended to 20 March Amid Intensifying Spy Inquiry
Westminster Magistrates’ Court green-lit a longer hold on Thursday, 12 March, meaning the men can be kept in custody until Friday, 20 March. The suspects, aged 40, 52, and 55, were arrested at homes in Barnet and Watford.
The investigation zeroes in on alleged spying linked to London’s Jewish community. CTP London detectives uncovered evidence suggesting surveillance of key locations and people within that community.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, said:
“This investigation continues at pace with a number of lines of enquiry being pursued by our detectives. These extended detentions allow us to carry on while ensuring public safety.
We understand concerns within the Jewish community and want to reassure them we act quickly against any threat to their safety. Please stay alert and report anything suspicious.”
