A Leeds man has been jailed for 15 months after a savage attack in Southport left a man unconscious and badly injured.
Brutal Attack in Southport
Jacob Hutchingson, 30, from Nineveh Gardens, Leeds, was admitted to a serious assault at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday 20 March.
The charges? Section 18: grievous bodily harm with intent and wounding with intent.
The violence happened on 6 April 2025 when Hutchingson knocked a man in his 30s unconscious before trampling on his ankle and stomach.
Victim Suffers Serious Injuries
The victim was rushed to the hospital with a broken ankle and other injuries. CCTV footage and a police appeal helped catch Hutchingson.
Victim Speaks Out
“I was not confident going out by myself when I was on crutches and it took several months to get that confidence back. I was scared to bump into my attacker, unable to remember their face so every male that looked at me I thought it was him. I am still worried going out with my friends into Southport day and night.” – Victim Personal Statement
Police React
Detective Constable Immy Mahmood said: “This was a nasty assault that left a man in hospital with serious injuries. It’s only right that Hutchingson is now spending time in prison, where I hope he will reflect on his appalling actions.”
Justice has been served, but the scars of that violent night linger for the victim.
