Leeds Man Jailed for Brutal Southport Attack
Jacob Hutchingson, 30, from Nineveh Gardens, Leeds, admitted to a serious assault at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 20 March. He was charged with Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and wounding with intent.
The shocking attack happened on 6 April 2025. Hutchingson knocked a man in his 30s unconscious before trampling on his ankle and stomach.
Victim Left with Broken Ankle and Trauma
The victim was rushed to hospital with a broken ankle and multiple injuries. CCTV footage and a police appeal led to Hutchingson’s arrest and conviction.
Victim’s Fear and Trauma Revealed
“I was not confident going out by myself when I was on crutches and it took several months to get that confidence back. I was scared to bump into my attacker, unable to remember their face so every male that looked at me I thought it was him. I am still worried going out with my friends into Southport day and night.”
Police Condemn Attack as ‘Nasty Assault’
Detective Constable Immy Mahmood said: “This was a nasty assault that left a man in hospital with serious injuries. It’s only right that Hutchingson is now spending time in prison, where I hope he will reflect on his appalling actions.”
Justice has been served, but the victim’s wounds run deeper than the physical scars from that terrifying night.
