Tragic Crash on A228: Pony and Trap Collide with Lorry

A white DAF tipper truck crashed into a pony and trap on the A228 Boyle Way in East Peckham at around 6.25pm on April 1.

Three Dead, One Critically Injured

The pony died instantly at the scene. A man in his 30s, riding in the trap, was pronounced dead. A young girl, also in the trap, later died from her injuries in hospital. A woman travelling with them remains in critical condition.

Lorry Driver Arrested as Police Hunt Witnesses

The 29-year-old lorry driver from kent/" title="Kent" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="3731">Kent was arrested and taken into custody following the crash. Police have launched a serious collision investigation and are urgently appealing for anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538, quoting reference BN/JG/027/26.
