Midnight Raid at Shinfield Co-op

Police are hunting crooks who struck at the Co-op store in Shinfield on Saturday evening. The bandits made off with a stash of cigarettes but failed to crack the till.

Chopper Scrambles in Dramatic Search

Officers were joined by the National Police Air Service helicopter as they scoured the area for the fleeing thieves. A police cordon was set up to allow forensic teams to comb the scene for clues.

No Arrests Yet, Police Appeal for Witnesses

Thames Valley Police confirmed the robbery happened around 7.10pm on April 4. A spokesperson said:

“We were called to Co-Op on School Green in Shinfield following a report of a robbery. The offenders had left by the time we arrived. The helicopter assisted us, but no arrests have been made yet.”

“A number of cigarettes were stolen. The offenders tried to open the till but were unsuccessful. The forensic search has now finished.”
