Police have named two men they want to question following the deadly stabbing of 19-year-old father Ashton Harrington in Whitstable.
Tragic Attack on Good Friday Night
Officers were called to Belmont Road shortly after 2 am on Good Friday, April 3. An air ambulance landed nearby around an hour later. Despite desperate efforts by emergency crews, Ashton was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s believed he knew his attackers.
A forensic tent was set up near Windsor House flats, with a cordon stretching from Canterbury Road junction to the mini-roundabout at Old Bridge Road as specialist teams combed the area for clues.
Suspects Named in Inquiry
Detectives have named Tobias Agbaje and Kieron Barnes as people who may hold vital information for the murder probe. Both men are linked to areas including Herne Bay, Whitstable, Canterbury, Sittingbourne, Ramsgate, and London.
Family Launch Fundraiser in Ashton’s Memory
Ashton’s heartbroken family has started a fundraiser to support Safer Kent, a charity tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across the county. Bayley Harrington said the campaign honours Ashton, describing him as “so loved” by everyone who knew him.
“We lost a father, son, family member and friend to knife crime. No family should have to feel this pain,” Bayley said. “One choice has countless consequences and destroys so many lives.”
All funds raised on GoFundMe will be donated to Safer Kent, which targets drugs, alcohol, hate crime, domestic abuse, road safety, and anti-social behaviour.
