Lifeboat and Coastguard Rescue Walker Cut Off by Tide at Dover
A walker was dramatically rescued by the Walmer RNLI lifeboat crew and two coastguard teams from Dover and Deal after being trapped by the rising tide on Saturday lunchtime.
Stranded as Tide Floods Creeks
The alarm was raised around 12.30pm when the walker found themselves cut off by water that rapidly filled creeks along the beach. Two volunteer coastguard search and rescue teams quickly sprung into action to carry out the rescue while the lifeboat provided safety cover from the sea.
Cold and Wet But Safe
The stranded walker was described as “cold and wet” after their ordeal attempting to cross the water. Thankfully, they were brought safely back to shore without needing medical attention.
Close Call Thanks to Mild Weather
“The outcome was a good one, but it might not have been if the weather hadn’t been so unseasonably mild,” a rescue team member said.
This incident serves as a stark reminder to stay wary of the tides when out walking along the coast.
