Delivery Disaster in Fleetwood
Rob Taylor and his family in Fleetwood, Lancashire, were ready for a tasty £45 KFC feast on 28 March. Ordering chicken for himself, his wife, and their three young daughters, they eagerly awaited their meal. Then the delivery notification popped up. Strange, though – no knock at the door, no call. Rob looked outside and saw the rider getting into his car. When Rob asked about the food, the rider simply said: “I’ve put it in the bin.” CCTV confirmed the shocking moment – the rider dumped the entire order straight into the rubbish bin. Madness.
“Did That Really Just Happen?”
“I looked out the window and said, ‘That’s my order,’ and he said, ‘I’ve put it in the bin,’” said Rob. “I was just stood there thinking, ‘Did that really just happen?’ I was gobsmacked. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.”
Left hungry and frustrated, Rob ditched the scrapped KFC and drove out to buy McDonald’s for the family instead.
Just Eat Claims Rider Tried to Contact Family
Just Eat responded, saying their driver attempted to reach Rob eight times – seven calls and a message through the app – but got no reply. They also claimed the driver waited outside the house for 20 minutes. Rob admitted he missed some calls but insisted it didn’t justify the binning stunt. Fair point. No matter the wait, chucking food in the bin is beyond bizarre.
Just Eat’s Official Take
A Just Eat spokesperson said drivers are told to leave food in a “safe place” if no one answers – which clearly doesn’t mean the black bin. They added: “We are in touch with the customer to discuss their experience further.” Here’s hoping Rob’s McDonald’s saved the day. One thing’s for sure: you never know what surprises might be lurking in your KFC delivery these days.
