David Haye Takes Jabs as Adam Battles Emotional Fallout
Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has opened up about needing therapy after feeling “broken” by David Haye’s brutal digs on I’m A Celebrity. The British boxing champ hasn’t backed down either, predicting Adam will win the live final this Friday – but only because viewers pity him. Speaking to The Sun, Haye said: “I think he’s actually going to win the show, off the kind of the victim, because he’s the victim in there. “I gave him some banter, so he’s crying about it. You got all the old biddies watching it. ‘Oh, isn’t he kind’. They see him as like a ‘put your arm around him and comfort him’. He’s a very unthreatening personality.”
Banter Turns to Bonding on 10-Hour Flight
Despite the heated moments in camp, Haye claims things are now “OK” between them. The boxer even rearranged seats to sit next to Adam on the long flight home, continuing the banter but also clearing the air.
“I then wound him up for a little while, gave him some more banter on the plane,” Haye admitted. “But, we actually talked and I explained to him this is just who I am and where I’ve been. I did, I said ‘if I’ve genuinely hurt your feelings…’, but I hadn’t known he was crying. “The last thing he wanted on that overnight flight was me sitting next to him leaning over the lad chatting to him. But we had a laugh, we had a laugh at the end of it. I think at the end of the flight he was like, ‘OK, I’m glad.’ He was glad I actually rearranged the seats to sit next to him.”
Haye’s Scathing Criticism of Adam’s Effort
Tensions flared when Haye called Adam out for “whining” after the actor, who suffers from psoriatic arthritis, sat out a gruelling trial due to feeling unwell and dehydrated. The tough-talking boxer said:
- “Stop whining about dehydration. You ain’t done sh** since you’ve been here.”
- On Adam’s illness: “Coincidentally whenever there is something to do he is feeling unwell. I don’t like guys who are useless. He is.”
- To campmates defending Adam: “He’s a grown ass man… Who gives a s***.”
- Mocked Adam’s claim the jungle was “the hardest thing he’s ever been through”: “I’ve been immersed in tough boxing gyms since I was ten years old… I won the world heavyweight championship against a seven-foot Russian giant. When a grown man tells me that a fun TV show – where we’re being paid handsomely every single day – is the hardest thing he’s ever been through, it’s just not a frequency I recognise.”
Squashed Beef But Therapy Continues
Looks like the pair have patched things up, even if Haye keeps tossing verbal punches. Meanwhile, Adam’s therapy journey shows the lasting impact of the feud. Fans can expect a stronger Adam Thomas to emerge – someone ready to stand his ground. Onwards and upwards!
