A drug dealer who told police “there’s a surprise in the bag” after officers caught him red-handed in a Peterborough park has been jailed. Ahmed Hussein, 33, was spotted by response officers conducting what they suspected was a drug deal in Stanley Recreation Ground at around 12.30am on Saturday, August 1. Officers were on patrol when they witnessed the suspected transaction and moved in. Hussein attempted to escape, running from police while carrying a bag. Officers gave chase and quickly caught and arrested him.
‘There’s a surprise in the bag’
After being stopped, Hussein told the officers: “There’s a surprise in the bag.” A search revealed eight individual deal bags of cannabis and seven packages of cannabis resin. Police also recovered more than £150 in cash, digital weighing scales and two mobile phones. Hussein, of no known address, was subsequently charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
Dealer jailed for nine months
He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 3, where he admitted the offence. Hussein was sentenced to nine months in prison.
