Blaze Breaks Out at Former Club in Staines

Just before 5pm on 4 July 2022, a huge fire erupted at the former ex-servicemen’s club on Richmond Road, Staines-upon-Thames. Twelve fire crews rushed to the scene to battle the flames.

Surrey, Berkshire and London Fire Crews Join Forces

Surrey Fire & Rescue Service led the response, with backup from Berkshire Fire Service and the London Fire Brigade. Thick smoke filled the air, forcing residents to keep doors and windows shut for safety.

Road Closure and Police Investigation Underway

Laleham Road was closed throughout the night as police launched an investigation into the cause. A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We believe the fire was started on purpose, and we are investigating.”

Authorities Urge Locals to Avoid the Area

Surrey Fire Service urged nearby residents to stay clear of the scene: “Please avoid the area while we deal with the incident and keep your doors and windows closed.”
