Massive £500k Stolen Haul Busted by Kent Police

Kent Police’s Rural Task Force, teamed up with Thames Valley officers, have smashed a major theft ring after raiding a Swattenden property early on Friday 26 April 2024.

Huge Recovery: Cars, Power Tools & Caravans

The crackdown led to the recovery of four vehicles, a quad bike believed stolen from Ashford, a vast stash of power tools, and six caravans taken from across Bristol, Wales, Southampton, Staffordshire, and Sussex.

Officers estimate the total value of all items recovered will top a staggering £500,000 once fully catalogued.

Tracker Leads Police to One of Biggest Theft Hauls

The breakthrough came after a theft victim, repeatedly targeted by criminals, fitted trackers to their tools. The search for one tracked item uncovered one of the largest suspected stolen goods hauls in recent memory.

Seven Arrested as Police Crack Down on Thieves

Five local men aged 18 to 44, along with a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested on suspicion of multiple theft-related offences. All have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police Sergeant Ross Haybourne, Rural Task Force, said: “We hope to reunite as many of the items as we can with their rightful owners as soon as possible.

“We are currently cataloguing the suspected stolen items, and a full list will be published soon. Anyone claiming property will need to prove ownership or purchase.

“This process will take time and we thank the public for their patience.”

“We advise tradespeople and power tool owners to mark their equipment, take photos, and record serial numbers to aid recovery in the event of theft. Please report thefts promptly with as much detail as possible.”
