Drive-By Shooting at Camden Funeral Leaves Four Women and Two Children Gravely Injured
Chaos Erupts Outside Euston Station
At 1:30pm on Saturday, January 14, a shocking drive-by shooting shattered the calm on Phoenix Road, Camden, just yards from Euston station. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of gunfire. Four women, aged between 21 and 54, and two children, aged seven and twelve, were rushed to a Central London hospital.
The 48-year-old woman sustained potentially fatal injuries. The youngest victim, just seven years old, remains in critical condition.
Gunfire Rocks Funeral Service at St Aloysius Church
The shooting reportedly occurred during a memorial service at St Aloysius Church, where mourners gathered to honour Fresia Calderon, 50, and her daughter Sara Sanchez, 20, who tragically died within a month of each other.
Witnesses claim the gunman targeted a guest at the funeral, suggesting it was a revenge attack.
“According to witnesses, the intended target of the shooting was a man who attended the service,” a funeralgoer revealed. “There is speculation it was a revenge attack.”
Local Residents Fear Rising Crime and Gang Violence
Simon, 38, who lives near the church, spoke of the rising tension on the estate. “I heard screaming, but that’s not unusual around here. I came out when I heard shouting and saw police and ambulances. It was probably revenge, as there is a lot of crime around here. Drug abuse is worsening, and gangs are gathering on street corners.”
He added, “They must have caught the car on CCTV because it would get stuck in traffic here.”
Police Launch Urgent Investigation
Preliminary investigations reveal shots were fired from a moving black vehicle which sped off. One witness described the harrowing scene: “There was a loud explosion. I saw a woman fall, people panicking and rushing out of the church with children in their arms.”
So far, no arrests have been made.
Superintendent Ed Wells said: “An investigation into this heinous attack is well underway. We will do everything possible to identify and bring the culprits to justice. Residents can expect increased police presence over the coming days.”
