Amesbury police launched a major blitz on Saturday night to tackle drink and drug driving during the busy festive season. This comes as part of their annual Christmas Drink/Drug Drive Campaign running throughout December.

The operation saw the Roads Policing Unit, neighbourhood teams, and special constables team up with the Road Safety Partnership to ramp up patrols. Their mission: hunt down anyone risking lives by driving under the influence of booze or illegal drugs.

- Three slapped with no insurance charges
- One driver driving dangerously
- Another caught driving while disqualified
Police seized three vehicles and slapped a prohibition notice on another, showing zero tolerance for unsafe rides.

PC Mike Handscomb said: “We’ll keep patrolling during the weeks ahead. We know people are out celebrating Christmas parties, but please plan your journey home. Drinking or taking illegal drugs and driving is just not worth the risk.”
