Knife Scare Sparks Lockdown at Barton Peveril College
Armed police swooped on Barton Peveril College after reports of a person armed with a knife on the premises. Staff and students were locked down inside as a tense search unfolded across the college grounds. Despite a full sweep, no suspect or weapon was found.
Panicked Parents Left Waiting
One parent described the ordeal as “terrifying” while anxiously waiting outside. She vented on social media: “I NEVER thought I’d be sat outside my daughter’s college during an active lockdown not knowing what’s happening. This is f*****g terrifying.”
College and Police Reassure Public
Principal Rob Temple confirmed the incident and praised the lockdown response: “We followed our lockdown procedures to ensure the safety of our college community.”
Police said: “We were called at 2.20pm on 9 March after reports of a person with a knife on the grounds. Officers attended and worked with school staff. No injuries reported and no weapon found. We are investigating the report.”
The college is now back to normal, with lessons continuing and the campus open tomorrow as usual.
