Teen Arrested in Maidstone Knife Threat Spree

A 17-year-old boy from Chatham was arrested after a tense knife incident in Maidstone. Police were called to The Broadway at around 7.30pm on Monday 8 April 2019 following reports of threatening behaviour with a blade.

Swift Police Action in The Broadway

Kent Police wasted no time. Officers quickly found and detained the teenager on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in public and affray. He has since been released pending further investigation.

Kent Police are hitting hard against knife crime and related offences like drug supply. Maidstone Chief Inspector Ray Quiller said:

“Our officers are taking robust and proactive action to target anyone who thinks carrying a knife or weapon is acceptable. Kent Police is committed to tackling the knife crime culture across the entire county. We have many measures in place to detect, stop, and search suspects who may be armed.”
