Bondi Beach Terror Horror: Father and Son Gunmen Slaughter 16
The deadly Bondi Beach terror attack has been exposed as a chilling family nightmare. NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon has confirmed the two gunmen behind the massacre were father and son.
24-year-old Naveed Akram remains critically injured in hospital under armed police guard. His 50-year-old dad was shot dead by cops at the scene.
Police Raid Homes, No Third Gunman Found
Following the Hanukkah massacre, police stormed two Sydney homes in Campsie and Bonnyrigg Heights. The carnage left dozens injured, including four children in critical condition.
“There were two offenders involved in yesterday’s incident,” said Commissioner Lanyon. “The offenders are a 50-year-old and 24-year-old male who are father and son.”
The father held a firearms licence and legally owned six guns. “We recovered six firearms from the scene and the Campsie address,” Lanyon added.
Death Toll Rises to 16 as Sydney Mourns
New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park confirmed the grim death toll now stands at 16, including one child.
“We hope and pray those people get through the next few hours,” Mr Park said, referring to the critically injured children.
The attack tore through Sydney’s Jewish community during a Hanukkah event attended by over 1,000 people.
Hero Wrestles Gun, Explosives Found
British-born Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a father of five, was among those killed. Hero bystander Ahmed Al Ahmed fought off one attacker, wresting a gun but was shot twice and is now fighting for his life in hospital.
Bomb squads discovered several improvised explosive devices in a car linked to the dead gunman. They are currently defusing the threat.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the massacre as “an act of evil, antisemitism, terrorism.”
