19-Year-Old Arrested for Terror Plot in Hertfordshire

Met Police Counter Terrorism officers swooped on a 19-year-old man in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, on Wednesday evening, May 23, at 6.57pm. He was arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Arrest and Searches Underway

The arrest took place on a street in Bishop’s Stortford. The suspect was detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and taken to a South London police station. Meanwhile, officers are combing through a property in Bishop’s Stortford as part of ongoing enquiries.

Linked Arrests in London

This latest arrest ties into a broader investigation. On May 18, an 18-year-old man was also detained for preparing terrorist acts. Then, on May 23, a 20-year-old woman was arrested in South London for failing to disclose information about terrorism, an offence under Section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000.

More Suspects Held

Two others currently remain in custody as police push forward with their investigation.
