Five Children Injured After Tree Crashes Down in Chalkwell Park
A terrifying scene erupted this afternoon at Chalkwell Park in Southend-on-Sea when a large tree toppled onto a group of children. The accident sparked a massive emergency response from police, paramedics, and fire crews.
Major Emergency Response at Chalkwell Park
Essex Police were called just before 3pm after reports of the fallen tree. A spokesperson confirmed: “We were called at 2.55pm to reports that a tree had fallen in Chalkwell Park. Six ambulances, three ambulance officer vehicles, as well as the Essex and Kent Air Ambulances, were dispatched immediately.”
Five Children Taken to Hospital with Minor Injuries
Five children were hurt in the incident and rushed to hospital. Luckily, their injuries are described as minor. Emergency teams are still on site, working hard to manage the situation and prevent further harm.
Police Urge Public to Avoid the Area
An Essex Police spokesperson said:
“We remain at the scene of a serious incident. Officers, ambulance crews, and the fire service are responding. There have been several casualties. We ask the public to avoid Chalkwell Park while emergency work continues.”
