Double Fatal Stabbing Shakes Southwark: Murder Probe Underway

Brutal Attack on Long Lane

A gruesome double stabbing at a Southwark business left two men dead this afternoon. The Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation after the violent incident on Long Lane, SE1.

Officers were called at 1:00pm on Monday, 28 July following reports of multiple people being attacked inside the premises.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

Police and London Ambulance crews arrived swiftly to find four men suffering from stab wounds.

  • A 58-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics’ efforts.
  • Three others were rushed to hospital for emergency care.
  • Tragically, a 27-year-old man later died from his injuries in hospital.
  • A fourth victim, a man in his 30s, remains hospitalised with non-life-threatening wounds.

Suspect Detained, Hospitalised

A man in his 30s has been detained in connection with the stabbings. He is currently fighting for life in hospital, police say.

Long Lane remains cordoned off, with forensic teams scouring the scene for evidence.

Police Appeal for Public Help

Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, leading the investigation, said: “Our investigation is in the early stages and we are working hard to understand the full circumstances of this shocking incident. At this point, we do not believe it to be terrorism-related and there is no further risk to the public.”

“Residents can expect a large police presence in the area. I urge anyone with information to come forward and contact officers or reach out to the Met by other means.”
