Tragedy on A70: Cyclist Killed in Horror Crash Near Harburn

A 65-year-old man riding his bike was fatally struck by a white Vauxhall van on the A70 near Harburn, West Calder, on the morning of Friday, 2 May 2025. Emergency crews arrived at around 8:45 AM but despite their desperate efforts, the cyclist died at the scene. The road was shut for hours as police carried out a full crash investigation.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell is leading the probe and is hunting a key witness: the driver of a silver or grey pick-up truck spotted near the scene at the time of the collision.

“This driver may have seen the collision or hold vital information for our investigation,” Sergeant Mitchell said. “We strongly urge them to get in touch with Police Scotland immediately. They are not in any trouble and could hold the key to justice.”
