Father-of-One Shot Dead in Brutal Battersea Drive-By
Police were called to Battersea Church Road, SW11, at around 9pm on Christmas Eve after shots rang out. Officers and paramedics found 36-year-old Flamur Beqiri, a Swedish national, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No Arrests Yet as Police Hunt Gunman
Detective Inspector Jamie Stevenson from the Homicide and Major Crime Command said the investigation is still in its early stages but progressing fast. “We are three days in, and enquiries continue at pace,” he said. A heavy police presence at the scene has now been scaled back, with house-to-house and CCTV checks ongoing.
Family Devastated After Targeted Killing
Flamur’s wife and young child witnessed the horrific attack. DI Stevenson urged the public to respect the family’s privacy during this dreadful time. “Flamur, of Swedish nationality and Albanian heritage, was shot multiple times by a lone suspect while returning home with his family,” Stevenson explained.
Possible Link to Swedish Criminal Past
Police are exploring the theory that the shooting was a targeted hit.
- “We believe Flamur may have had criminal links back in Sweden,” said DI Stevenson.
- Officers are working with Swedish authorities to uncover any motives or connections.
- Despite community fears, police say there is no current danger to the public.
Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
DI Stevenson urged anyone who witnessed the shooting or saw a suspect fleeing the scene to come forward immediately. “Did you see anyone loitering before the attack? What did the shooter look like? Any details could be crucial,” he said.
