Woman in 50s Murdered in Leigh-on-Sea Garden
Police were called to Whitehouse Meadows, Leigh-on-Sea, at 9pm on Tuesday, 7 November after reports of an assault. Officers found a woman in her 50s seriously injured in a garden. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man Arrested Over Suspected Murder
The Serious Crime Directorate has launched a full investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Terry Balding said, “We are doing everything possible to expedite this investigation.”
A 54-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Police Reassure Locals
District Commander Chief Inspector Jo Collins addressed the community:
“I know this will be of concern to local residents, but I want to reassure the public that officers will remain at the scene today while enquiries continue.”
She urged anyone with information, concerns, CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward and speak to officers on site or submit evidence online.
