Fire Erupts at Rodmersham Primary School

A blaze broke out at Rodmersham Primary School near Sittingbourne, sparking a rapid response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters rushed to the scene, working hard to contain the fire.

Four Engines and Crane Battle the Blaze

Residents reported seeing four fire engines and a crane tackling the fire. As of 10:15pm, crews were still securing the site. The school’s roof took the brunt of the damage, with a large section covered by blue tarpaulin to prevent further hazards.

Villagers Rally as Firefighters Fight Flames

The school sits close to the Fruiterers pub and the village green, where concerned locals gathered to watch. One resident said:

“The first fire engine showed up around 7pm, followed by another half an hour later. It quickly became clear this was serious. Firefighters used a crane to inspect the damaged roof, which took the worst of it. There had been an alarm earlier in the day and ongoing construction, but details are still unclear.”

Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed they tackled a fire on the school’s roof on October 26, 2023, between 7:10pm and 9:09pm. Four fire engines and a height vehicle were deployed. Crews wore breathing apparatus and used high-pressure hose reels to douse the flames. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
