Garage Blaze in Orpington Sparks Police Probe

A fierce fire ripped through a garage on Cotmandene Crescent, Orpington, last Friday night. The blaze is now under police and fire brigade investigation amid suspicions over its cause.

Firefighters Battle Blaze with Full Force

Emergency crews sprang into action after the first 999 call came in at 10:34pm. A total of 25 firefighters tackled the flames using four fire engines. The fire was under control within 47 minutes.

Crews from Orpington, Eltham, and Bromley fire stations rushed to the scene to fight the inferno. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed one garage was completely destroyed, but thankfully no injuries were reported.

“Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire in a block of terraced garages on Cotmandene Crescent in Orpington. One garage was destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries,” said a London Fire Brigade spokeswoman.

“The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took seven calls about the blaze. The first call was at 22:34, and the fire was under control by 23:21.”

Police Join Fire Brigade in Investigation

The Metropolitan Police Service has teamed up with the London Fire Brigade to find out what sparked the blaze. Officers are treating the fire’s cause as suspicious.

Residents are urged to come forward with any information or if they noticed anything unusual around the time of the fire.
