Teenager stabbed to death in Walthamstow shock

A 16-year-old boy has been fatally stabbed on Markhouse Road, Walthamstow, in a tragic incident that has rocked the local community.

Emergency services rush to fatal stabbing

Police, paramedics, and an air ambulance rushed to the scene just after 4pm on Friday. They found the teenager with a stab wound but despite desperate attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene half an hour later.

Murder probe launched, no arrests yet

A murder investigation is now underway. Officers have informed the boy’s family, who were seen devastated at the scene, asking, “Why and how could this happen? He was so young.”

No suspects have been arrested so far, and a post-mortem is scheduled as police continue their inquiries.

Senior officers and MP urge public to help

Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, senior officer in the borough, expressed his heartbreak:

“I am completely devastated by the loss of a young man’s life on our streets. At this tragic time, my heartfelt condolences and thoughts are with the victim’s family.”

“I, like many others, am deeply concerned about our communities, and I know that this senseless loss of life will reverberate far and wide. In the face of such violence, we must stand together, and I urge anyone with information about what happened this afternoon to contact us immediately.”

Local MP Stella Creasy said she was “totally devastated” and implored residents to come forward with any helpful information.

There are still extensive police cordons in place on Markhouse Road and surrounding areas, with traffic restrictions near the Lea Bridge.
