Ryanair Flight Forced to Sea Diversion After Bomb Threat
Greek F-16 jets scrambled on Sunday to escort a Ryanair plane flying from Poland to Greece after a bomb threat spooked authorities.
Flight Diverted for Safety Over Athens
As the aircraft neared Athens, it was rerouted over the sea before safely landing at the city’s international airport. The pilot informed Athens control, but officials remain clueless about where the threat originated.
“The pilot notified the Athens control tower, but we don’t know where the information originated,” said Greek police spokeswoman Constantia Dimoglidou.
Special Police Units Search Plane and Luggage
Once on the ground, special police teams carefully inspected the plane and all luggage. Fortunately, no threat was found.
“Everyone is OK and safe,” confirmed airport spokesperson Elena Dimopoulou.
