Body Found in Leeds Canal Sparks Murder Probe
Detectives are hunting for answers after the grim discovery of a man’s body in a canal near Bramley Fall Wood Park, Leeds. The shocking find was made just after 9am today when a passerby spotted the body floating in the water and raised the alarm.
Mystery Man Found Dead in Water
Emergency crews rushed to the scene but the man was pronounced dead at the spot. Officers have launched an extensive investigation to piece together who he is and how he ended up in the canal.
Who Was He? Police Issue Description
The victim is described as an elderly white male, bald on top with white hair on the sides, sporting facial stubble. He was last seen wearing:
- Beige zipped waist-length jacket
- Khaki scarf
- Blue jumper with a red and diamond design
- Beige trousers and brown belt
- Brown leather gloves
- Green socks and a green-brown checked shirt
- Gold metal wristwatch
He carried only a single key and a 30-year-old A-Z map book, adding to the mystery.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“Extensive inquiries are ongoing into the man’s death, which we are treating as unexplained,” said Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of Leeds CID. “We want to speak with anyone who was in Bramley Fall Wood Park overnight or this morning and saw this man. Please get in touch if you recognise him.”
