Man Beaten to Death in Busy West Sussex Pub Hours After England Euro 2024 Draw
A 57-year-old man was brutally beaten to death in front of shocked pub-goers just hours after England’s Euro 2024 clash with Denmark ended in a 1-1 draw. The violent attack has sparked a police murder investigation.
Murder Arrests Made, Manhunt Underway
The victim suffered fatal head injuries during the assault at the Dolphin and Anchor Wetherspoons pub in Chichester shortly before 11pm on Thursday. Emergency services tried CPR at the scene but the man was pronounced dead.
- A 30-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
- A 42-year-old man from County Durham faces suspicion of affray.
- Police are hunting a third suspect, whose identity is known.
Both arrested men remain in police custody as authorities appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Out
Sussex Police confirmed the pub was busy when the attack happened and stressed there’s no evidence the victim knew his attackers. Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Joseph said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this difficult time. We are keen to hear from anyone who saw the incident or has any mobile or CCTV footage.”
