Tragic Blaze in Hamstreet Claims Young Girl’s Life
Police and fire teams launch urgent probe after deadly house fire in Kent.
Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) are working together to find out what sparked the devastating blaze at a home on White Admiral Way, Hamstreet.
The call came in at 12.15pm on Sunday 28 December 2025, prompting a massive response with eight fire engines racing to the scene. Firefighters arrived to find the property fully engulfed in flames, including a first-floor rear bedroom.
Four teams of brave firefighters, decked out in breathing apparatus, battled the inferno while searching for anyone trapped inside.
Neighbours’ Heroic but Heartbreaking Rescue Attempts
Local residents described desperate, harrowing scenes as they tried to help but were driven back by the fierce flames.
One neighbour said:
“It started downstairs and spread really quickly. There was nothing we could do at that point. It was really bad. We were all beaten back.”
Tragically, a young girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been notified and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Evacuations and Safety Measures
Nearby homes were swiftly evacuated as a safety precaution. Fire crews conducted thorough checks for hotspots across the first floor and roof space, using a thermal imaging drone and carrying out structural inspections.
Police maintained a strict cordon to keep the area secure while emergency teams worked.
Ongoing Investigation
A joint probe between KFRS’s Incident Investigation Team and Kent Police is underway. Officers have carried out house-to-house enquiries and scoured CCTV footage nearby to piece together how the fire started.
A Kent Police spokesperson said:
“Kent Police was called at 12.22pm on Sunday 28 December 2025 following reports of a fire on White Admiral Way in Hamstreet.
Officers are at the scene assisting Kent Fire and Rescue with road closures as they extinguish the fire.”
