Westminster Terror Alert: Man Arrested After Car Ploughs Into Pedestrians Outside Parliament

A man has been arrested following a shocking crash outside the Houses of Parliament this morning, Tuesday 14 August. At 7.37am, a silver Ford Fiesta smashed into barriers after hitting cyclists and pedestrians in Westminster.

Injuries Reported, But No Life-Threatening Cases

Several people were hurt in the collision. Two victims were rushed to hospital – a woman remains there with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a man has since been discharged. Another man was treated at the scene and did not need hospital care.

Armed Police Arrest Driver on Terror Suspicion

The Fiesta’s solo driver, a man in his late 20s, was swiftly arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences by armed officers who were already nearby. He is now in custody at a south London police station. The vehicle is being searched, but no additional weapons have been found so far.

Police Treat Incident as Terrorism, Urge Public Vigilance

Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu confirmed this is being treated as a deliberate terrorist act due to the location and method of attack. The Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation, with no other suspects identified. There is currently no intelligence suggesting further threats to London or the UK.

“I urge anyone with information or footage to contact police on 0800 789 321 or upload images at ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk. Please avoid the area while investigations continue,” said Basu.

Westminster Tube station remains closed and cordons are in place, causing major disruption. Authorities continue to work urgently to reopen the area and ensure public safety.

Londoners are urged to stay alert and report anything suspicious immediately by calling 999.
