Acid Attack Rocks Central London: Bloomsbury Square Sealed Off
Police have shut down part of Bloomsbury Square and the junction with Bloomsbury Place in Central London after a suspected acid attack.
Emergency Crews Rush to Scene
At around 11:40am on Tuesday, police, paramedics, and firefighters scrambled to the area. Anti-terror officers were also spotted at the scene amid an ongoing investigation.
A large police cordon surrounds number 27 Bloomsbury Place, a building housing a hotel and serviced flats.
Victim Treated on Spot After Face Sprayed
Paramedics treated a man in his 30s inside an ambulance. He suffered eye irritation after being sprayed with a corrosive substance. His current condition and hospital status remain unknown.
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“Police were called at 11:18am on Tuesday, 13 April to reports of a corrosive substance attack at Bloomsbury Place, WC1.
Officers, London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade attended.
At the scene, a male in his 30s had been sprayed in the face with a substance that irritated his eyes.
Detectives believe the attack happened during a personal robbery.”
“The victim was treated at the scene. There have been no arrests. A crime scene remains in place.”
