Police Car Collides with Cyclist in Bethnal Green
A Metropolitan Police car and a cyclist collided late on Wednesday night, January 17, at around 10.32pm on Bethnal Green Road, E2. Emergency crews from the Met and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene to help.
Cyclist’s Injuries Not Life-Threatening
The victim, a 36-year-old man, was treated on site. Thankfully, paramedics confirmed his injuries were non-life-threatening and should not cause any lasting health problems.
Investigation Underway as Police Probe Collision
Officers are currently investigating the full circumstances of the crash. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards, responsible for overseeing officer conduct, has also been informed to ensure protocols were followed.
A Met Police spokesman said: “On Wednesday 17 January at 22:32hrs, a collision occurred between a police car and a cyclist on Bethnal Green Road, E2. Officers and LAS paramedics attended the scene. The 36-year-old man’s injuries were assessed and confirmed as non-life-threatening or changing. Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing. The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.”
