£20,000 Reward for Clues in Soho Stabbing Cold Case
Detectives are reopening the hunt for the killer who stabbed 23-year-old Camille Gordon outside her Soho workplace back in March 2004. The young student and part-time hostess was fatally attacked on the doorstep of the Blue Bunny Club, Archer Street. Despite decades of investigation, Camille’s murderer remains at large.
New BBC Crimewatch Appeal Aims to Crack the Case
On Wednesday 16 October, the Metropolitan Police issued a fresh plea on BBC Crimewatch Live, hoping to unearth vital leads. Detective Inspector Amanda Greig from the Met’s Specialist Casework Team said:
“It may have been more than 20 years since Camille was brutally murdered, but her family remains heartbroken. They want answers, and so do we. We are now offering a £20,000 reward for information that leads to the successful charge and conviction of the person responsible. A lot can change in 20 years—perhaps you are now in a position to speak out or have information you didn’t share at the time.”
Details of the Night Camille Was Murdered
- Camille, originally from Jamaica, came to London in 2003 to chase better career opportunities while training to be a nursery assistant.
- She worked nights as a hostess at the Blue Bunny Club to support herself financially.
- On the night she was killed, a man who had been a customer returned to the club shortly before the attack.
- Camille was stabbed once in the heart and collapsed inside the club. Emergency services tried to save her, but she died at the scene.
Suspect and Witness Appeal
The Met have released enhanced CCTV images of a man seen fleeing towards Piccadilly Circus Tube station soon after the stabbing. The suspect is described as:
- Black male, aged 20-25
- Height between 5’5″ and 5’8″
- Wearing a dark jacket with a large Cleveland Indians logo, dark jeans, white trainers, and a baseball cap
Additionally, detectives want to speak to a white man, around 35 years old with a skinny build and light brown hair, who visited Kennington Police Station two days after the murder asking for CID but left before officers arrived.
